MS and CHRISTMAS COLLECTIONS and Burn's Night
Burns Night - Friday January 27th
A number of Club Members and their partners joined Shepperton and Sunbury Club to celebrate Burn's Night in the traditional way at the Riverside Arts Centre, attended by about 80 people, many from other clubs.

After the Haggis was piped round the room in the traditional manner and ritually stabbed during the address to the beastie, we enjoyed a excellent three course meal with coffee.

Alex Forrester from Staines Rotary gave an entertaining toast to the ladies, which seemed to encouraged most to join in the Scottish dancing which followed, or just sit & enjoy the music.

Cathy Black & the others involved from her club are to be congratulated on really superb evening, our party certainly enjoyed a great time.

.

OUR CHRISTMAS COLLECTIONS allowed us to make donations to many charities and we were able to present cheques to several of the local ones. Nigel Wilson presented the cheque to the Princess Alice Hospice at their shop in the High Street, while Sooting Star and the Black Swan collected theirs at our breakfast meeting at Oscars in Shepperton Studios on January 18th.

At our meeting on January 25th, Colette Hassettt – came and spoke about MS & Lots More. Colette is visually impaired and brought along her guide dog who behaved impeccably throughout breakfast despite the distractions of bacon and sausages. Colette gave an excellent presentation and answered many questions. Many of the remarks centered on visibility and how difficult it sometimes is for the disabled to be noticed when people talk over their heads to their carers.
